Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, or POTS, is a debilitating condition that robs sufferers of things big and small, every day. The ability to hold a job. A night out with friends. Basking in a nice, hot shower. Clarity of thought. But it does not steal the strength it takes to define themselves. Faces of POTS carries a powerful message: We are much more than our diagnosis.
Collaborating with Dysautonomia International, award-wining photographer Adam Jacobs, himself a POTS sufferer, captured 28 faces – resilient, fierce, curious people –
to help raise awareness about POTS. Here are their faces and their stories.

Host a Reception
Faces of POTS is intended to be a high-end impactful and educational traveling art exhibition, to be displayed at art galleries, museums, hospitals, universities, government offices, and community centers. Each exhibition would include a reception with cocktails or light refreshments, brief speeches by Dysautonomia International volunteers and local POTS patients or family members, and printed educational materials encouraging the public to learn more about POTS.
Due to coronavirus concerns, we have postponed plans for traveling art exhibitions, but we would love to collect ideas for future locations that we can host the Faces of POTS art exhibition after coronavirus is no longer a public health threat.
Some of the factors that go into deciding where to take the Faces of POTS traveling art exhibit include the visibility of the location to the general public, the availability of local volunteers willing to help plan and promote the event, and costs of shipping the artwork and planning the event.
